1.) What do you do at Literati?
I started working for Borders in 1999, and I became a children’s & young adult book specialist. Now that I am Literati Book Ninja, I love the opportunity to share my true passion and book expertise with the community.
2.) What do you do when you’re not working at Literati?
When not in my natural habitat of the bookstore, I enjoy traveling, knitting beadwork, reading (always reading!) spending time with family & friends. Beekeeping is a new hobby that I inherited lately that along with and endless attempt to grow my own food. That and working a local grocery store keep me pretty busy.
3.) Top five favorite books?
I love many books, as for my favorites right now, I would have to say:
Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
A Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani
The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende (to be published Nov. 2015)
4.) What are you reading right now?
I usually have about eight books at any given time that I am reading here is what is keeping my attention at the moment. The advance reader’s copy of The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende which will be published in November 2015, and which I picked up one night on a curious whim (out of one of my many book piles) and read eighty-eight pages before I knew it. I am also enjoying the new collection of short stories by Adam Johnson titled Fortune Smiles, which will be out next week. I am re-reading A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin because it is one of my favorites (the movie Mr. Holmes is based on this novel). The humor of Rock, Paper, Scissors by Danish Author Naja Marie Aidt is making for good laughter currently. I’m just about finished with Echo by one of my favorite young-teen writers Pam Munoz Ryan, and Simon Von Booy and his Everything Beautiful Began After is simply mesmerizing.
